My passion is for strong, school library programs with effective, certified school librarians at the helm. I know we make a tremendous difference in assuring excellence in teaching and learning. I am appalled when positions are eliminated and programs collapse. Quality people and programs are needed now, more than ever. AASL must speak out; be willing to take calculated risks to educate our communities and government on the essential role of school libraries. We cannot be bashful when advocating for students and 21st-century learning standards.

I will bring my best thinking and work to communicate evidence supporting our role, fight for funding to continue our journey, and articulate our Learning 4 Life mission. We are the variable to help launch learning, and ensure that all students have the opportunity to achieve.
